This pandemic has separated many of us.

My heart aches for those with loved ones are in senior care facilities. I’m aware of a local assisted living community that is using technology as a way to arrange for “visits,” but a Facetime visit is obviously not the same as a person-to-person experience where hands can be held and shoulders can be leaned on.

I was particularly touched by a friend of mine whose mother is in a nursing 爱购彩票官网. He said this was the very first time in his 56 years, that he was not able to be with her on Mother’s Day.

On a much lighter note, Monday morning I had the opportunity to see someone I haven’t been able to visit for more than two months. I was able to walk through the front door of her small business, sit down in her special chair … and get a haircut. Not only have they quickly established a large loyal customer base, but they are also involved with a number of charitable efforts in our community. Those activities contributed to them being recognized, at our January Annual Awards Banquet, as the Chamber’s 2019 New Business of the Year.

Last week we saw the expansion of services by our restaurants. Now we have the opening of other businesses. If you are comfortable visiting these businesses, you are encouraged to do so.

Our small business have had an extremely hard time during this pandemic and they need your financial support. If you are a part of the vulnerable group that should not be out in public, you still can help. Many of the business have gift cards you can purchase online.
